You can be part of the generation that owns and ends poverty by participating in a semester abroad unlike the rest.

InterVarsity partners with GO ED to offer you for-credit semester programs in Rwanda and Thailand, in which you'll intellectually and spiritually wrestle with issues like racial reconciliation and human trafficking.

On a GO ED semester program, you’ll spend 16 weeks:

  • living with and culturally engaging your host community
  • studying the history, culture, and justice issues of the region
  • getting hands-on experience with a 4-week practicum in relief and development

In these profoundly poverty-stricken countries, you are sure to be transformed yourself as you seek to bring transformation.

Rwanda Program At a Glance

Program Focus: Peace-building and reconciliation in the context of a country that experienced a tragic genocide 20 years ago. You’ll learn how the gospel moves us to seek reconciliation, redemption of culture, and restoration of life and beauty amidst woundedness.

Practicum Placements: Community development, public health, teaching and education, ecology and agriculture, or vulnerable populations.

Accreditation: Credits will be earned through Uganda Christian University.

Living Arrangements: Guesthouses in Kigali with other students.

Excursions: Museums, national parks, and a safari.

Thailand Program At a Glance

Program Focus: The exploitation of marginalized people groups, particularly through human trafficking. God calls us to care for the least of these, and you’ll have the opportunity to affirm the innate value of all people and create safe spaces for vulnerable individuals and cultures. 

Practicum Placements: Advocacy, public health, sustainable agriculture, or vocational training.

Accreditation: Credits will be earned through Payap University.

Living Arrangements: In the city of Chiang Mai, you’ll live on a campus alongside people from the Lahu hill tribe who are training for bi-vocational ministry.

Excursions: National forests, an elephant camp, and many cultural events.
