Sometimes staff are afraid that they will lose students to study abroad. However, as Aubrey's story shows, study abroad can be a place for deep spiritual growth, opportunity to take cross-cultural risks, and upon return, a renewed energy to reach a campus.
Before a student applies for a study abroad program, use the opportunity to help them to include God in their decision making process. Our pocket proxy helps you ask good discernment questions such as "Have you thought about Study Abroad as an opportunity for sharing the gospel?" “Is there a part of the world God may be sending you to?” and “How can study abroad grow your kingdom passion and God’s healing purposes in the world?” These questions will help students to focus on God's purposes for their lives while making a decision that for many students brings stress and anxiety.
Study Abroad is a rich experience of crossing-cultures and discovering more about yourself while being away from your home culture. As a staff you have the ability to make the experience even richer and help your students make choices to follow God wherever they go!
